Château Fleur La Mothe Medoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur 2019
We wanted to include a Cru Bourgeois Superior in this box and this wine fit the bill. What is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur you ask? To answer that, we have to go back in time. In 1855, ordered by Napolean, the brokers of Bordeaux classified each estate according to the château’s reputation, trading price and quality. This classification stands to this day, but since 1855, there have been many estates producing excellent wine in the Bordeaux area. The Cru Bourgeois rankings came about in 1932 and has gone through several iterations and from 2010 was reintroduced to indicate quality. These wines represent excellent quality outside the 1855 Classification and are excellent value for money. This vineyard is Terre Vitis certified.
This wine is suitable for ageing and could keep for a few more years. Otherwise, get your favourite piece of meat and enjoy right now.
Tasting: Juicy blackberry and blackcurrant, hints of violet and red fruit with vanilla, tobacco with well-integrated tannins and a long finish
Pairings: Great with steak or any roasted red meat
