Lucien Albrecht Alsace Grand Cru Gewurztraminer Spiegel 2020
The 2020 vintage was early ripening and the grapes were harvested in late August. The wines of the 2020 vintage are fruit forward and balanced and benefit from an excellent tannin structure.The reputation of the Grand Cru Spiegel exists since at least the 1950’s when winemakers introduced quality charters. The wines produced from this cru are unique, characterized by their persistent flavours and the fact that they are complex age-worthy wines. So much so that this wine can be aged from 3-15 years. This is a medium sweet wine.
Tasting: The nose is charming with aromas of spices (clove, white pepper) and citrus (pomelo, kumquat). The second nose is floral (peony). The palate is silky, with a great length of flavours of mango and passion fruit, which enhance all the delicacy and finesse of the variety.
Pairings: It is perfect with green curry, strong cheeses, dessert such as a lychee rose macaroon.
