Alma Cersius Viognier
Viognier is not a grape that most Irish wine drinkers would go to grab in the wine aisle. This grape is an ancient one and the experts don’t know the origin of where it came from. It brings a beautiful perfumes to wine when blended, which is common in the Condrieu region. Viognier is a fussy grape. It can be difficult to cultivate and these grapes must be treated with care to produce good wine. You must be up early to harvest this grape, around 4am before it gets too hot to avoid oxidation and preserve its fresh characteristics. This wine won 5 gold medals and 2 silver medals in 2024 and we also think you’ll be impressed.
Tasting: Fragrances of apricot and almond, fresh fruit and long finish.
Pairings: Drink as an aperitif, with grilled fish, ceviche, spicy Thai dishes or can be delightful with some cheeses.
